Loma Linda University Health Care has over 900 physicians who provide outpatient services to patients.
As a healthcare center with millions of patients treated and over 900 physicians, Loma Linda University Health Care (LLUH) wanted to improve patient care with better visibility and insight into patient and business data.
With a small team, Loma Linda University Health Care is responsible for managing the entire data and analytics process for outpatient services.
Since Loma Linda University Health Care heavily relies on Epic for its patient information, they needed an easy way to extract and blend Epic and other data to create a 360-degree view of their patient data.
Pentaho Data Integration and Pentaho Business Analytics provide enterprise data management, reporting and analytics to physicians and affiliated outpatient clinics. The end-to-end solution includes intuitive dashboards to make self-service reporting much easier. The team selected Pentaho over SAP BusinessObjects, IBM Cognos and TIBCO Jaspersoft, and the project was delivered on time and on budget with the help of Pentaho professional services.
With Pentaho, Loma Linda University Health Care has gained significant financial and clinical improvements to their outpatient services. For example, centralized, secured, consistent information delivery has eliminated significant hours compared with the previous Microsoft® Access®–based system. Now, LLUH can use data to increase productivity and improve revenue cycles and fact-based decision making, as well as increase collaboration with more departments and users through the delivery of highly reliable, timely and accessible information.
Hitachi Vantara’s big data integration and analytics solution provides higher-level patient views that couldn’t be created within Epic, achieves stricter performance-based care metrics through provider scorecards and optimizes physician and staffing work schedules. Overall, Pentaho’s capabilities exceeded Loma Linda University Health Care’s needs and requirements.
